The Managerâs Apology and the Aristocratsâ Strings
âEveryone, I apologize for causing you so much trouble! From now on, I will be more careful not to let something like that happen again,â Lucia said, bowing her head to the entire staff in the Magical Garment Factoryâs largest conference room. She had taken two whole days off, but everyone had greeted her looking very worried.
âDonât worry, you didnât cause any trouble. You barely took any time off, anyway. Are you sure youâre really okay, boss?â
âAre you feeling better? You pushed yourself really hard!â
âPlease ask us for more help next time!â
âChief, I think itâs best you stay seated and only give out instructions. We can bring you any documents and fabric you need.â
Hearing everyoneâs warm words made Luciaâs nose tingle. She fought back the sensation with a smile, then raised her voice and said, âIâm fine now, really! Iâve made a full recovery.â
Everyone responded with relief and smiling faces, and this time, Luciaâs eyes started to water. As she again fought back the sensation, Zilo came up and clapped her on the shoulder.
âItâs not just the chief who needs to be carefulâeveryone here needs to make sure theyâre not overworking themselves. Overworking, much like getting an advance on your salary, will always comes back to bite you. And once youâre over thirty-five, all-nighters start to take an even greater toll on your body, and they take longer to recover from too, so keep that in mind!â
âI know that all too well!â
âZilo, please donât talk about getting old!â
The room echoed with sounds of laughter and wailing.
âOn a serious note,â Hestia said, âoverworking really isnât good for you. Especially not for your skin.â
âSays the woman with flawless skin.â
âNow that you mention it, I donât think Iâve ever seen Hestiaâs skin look bad! Even though you work as much overtime as everyone else! Tell me what cosmetics you use!â
As the conversation turned lively, so did it start veering off in other directions. This was how things always went at the Magical Garment Factory. Lucia was happy nothing had changed in her absence.
âOkay, thatâs enough!â she called out, clapping her hands together. âWe can hear about Hestiaâs beauty routine at tea time! Letâs work hard to meet todayâs goals and prepare for anything unexpected that may come up tomorrow.â
âYeah, letâs do it!â
âWe can do this!â
Most of the personnel nodded cheerfully and then headed back to their own workstations. Lucia watched them leave. Zilo remained by her side, frowning as he stroked his beard.
âSomething wrong, Zilo?â
âNo, I was just thinking, we havenât had a week yet without something unexpected coming up...â
âWhen you put it that way, it sounds like no matter how much we make, the stock in our warehouse never increases...â
The toe socks, drying insoles, and zephyricloth. Every day, they worked hard to make enough to meet their production goals, plus a little extra. But the Magical Garment Factoryâs inventory never grew.
Whether it was the azure-eyed messenger from the Order of Beast Hunters coming to them on the
